This 16th edition of Older and Reckless features an all star female line-up: Stephanie Ballard & Odette Heyn-Penner, Sylvie Bouchard & Martha Randall, Karen Kaeja & Mika Kaeja, and Terrill Maguire & Ann Southam.
Older and Reckless, an informal performance series, features work from OLDER artists who continue to grow more RECKLESS as time goes by. Older and Reckless provides an opportunity for seasoned dance artists to perform short works and a chance for the audience to see some of Canada’s most celebrated senior choreographers.
Conceived as a twice-yearly event by Claudia Moore, artistic director of MOonhORsE Dance Theatre, Older and Reckless is “an intimate exchange for both the performer and the observer; exciting, terrifying, and lots of fun. The performances are followed by a party with music, refreshments, and a chance to talk with the artists about work, process, and whatever else comes up!”
In this 16th edition, Winnipeg’s distinguished artists Stephanie Ballard and Odette Heyn-Penner will perform two of Ballard’s solo works, Red with Grace and Pleading Prayer.
Also in O&R this March, is a solo work by Sylvie Bouchard, performed and commissioned by Martha Randall.
Toronto dance luminary, Karen Kaeja, will be performing a duet with her 10-year-old daughter Mika, a student at the National Ballet School. Their duet is inspired from a previous creation and is significant to their relationship.
Together at O&R, dance artist Terrill Maguire and acclaimed composer Ann Southam investigate the essential nature of the intrinsic music-dance relationship.
Please join us each night for other fun and engaging activities surrounding the performance to get their hearts, minds and imaginations in gear for the show. The ball gets rolling at 7:45pm with an artist-lead audience warm-up. The fun continues each night after the performance with a lively discourse and snacks at the reception party.
