Jolene Bailie

Tomorrow at the Gas Station Theatre, the choreography of Anna Sokolow (New York), Deborah Dunn (Montreal), Denise Clarke (Calgary), and Jolene Bailie (Winnipeg) will be featured in a mixed program entitled Love and War. Jolene will be presenting a new work: "a fantastical, sophisticated love romp [...] to musical excerpts from Carmen." As an emerging artist, her background and blossoming career are recognized in this recent interview for the Osborne episode of The Artist Next Door.

Coming up in April, dance: made in canada / fait au canada will be featuring the works of Toronto's Susie Burpee and Winnipeg's Jolene Bailie in the first week of the festival. Bailie will perform her signature solo Switchback, which was inspired by her deep guttural response to feelings of confinement. This visceral and ominous emotional undercurrent is crafted with sophistication, and presents a curiously disjointed and otherworldly creature.
